Kaden Meek and Braden Doersam Obituary: Communities Mourn Following Fatal Illinois Route 1 Head-On Collision

Authorities reported that a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Kaden Meek of Lawrenceville, crossed the center line for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle collided head-on with a northbound 2019 Ford Fusion driven by Braden Doersam of Robinson. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies, including the Crawford County Illinois Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Rescue, Flat Rock Area Fire Protection District, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Illinois State Police, responded swiftly to the scene. Despite their efforts, both drivers succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision.

Braden Doersam was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kaden Meek was transported in critical condition but later died at the hospital. Officials confirmed that the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstructionist has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.

Roadways in the area were closed for approximately four hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, document evidence, and assist investigators in reconstructing the events leading up to the collision.
